Gods of beauty, gods of power

A world where the gods bring people to loci of power to fulfill great plans, and where that’s what happened when you “moved to San Francisco for work”. A world where the most plausible moral code holds that you must create beauty in all its forms—not only art and music but also systems, structures, knowledge; even tools and movements for the easing of suffering. (Even if the gods decreed it, there’s nothing that gives them authority. “Should” statements still lack truth values. But I can see why some might not like this system because it might base good and bad on some form of productivity. Is it true that there are better and worse things for a person to be doing at any given time? (I think so.))

Beauty is riding a crowded bus and holding on for dear life as you attempt to pull the stop request string and finally decide to ask a person sitting next to you and ey does it for you.
